Nemo Obi 2 Person Tent

OVERVIEW

The Obi™ tents are the black belt martial artists of the Nemo lineup. They are finely tuned instruments, with not one gram of material wasted, every feature and detail driven by purpose and strategy. Subtly moving the front pole hub overhead gives the pole skeleton shoulders, creating more interior volume without the need for an additional ridge pole. A raised waterproof tub floor allows cutouts in the fly to save significant weight while improving ventilation. Separate vestibules and entrances on Obi™ 2P eliminate jostling for position and gear storage with vestibules perfectly sized for tucking in your pack and shoes at night. Includes GREEN™ anodized DAC Featherlite® NSL poles, a Light Pocket™, dry bag style stuff sack, stakes, and a repair kit. Optional Footprint, and Gear Caddy are available.

  • Pole hubs for intersect attachment for free-standing support
  • Superior Hardwear: Several innovative pieces of hardware are used to increase the ease of setup and strength of Obi™ 2P.
  • The DAC Jake’s Foot corner anchor system makes tent setup faster and easier. The main poles attach to the anchors by ball and socket. When the fly is attached, the Jake’s Feet act as cantilevers to pull the corners of the inner tent closer to the ground. The Jake’s Feet also allow you to set up your fly and poles without the inner tent to create a convenient tarp/shade shelter.
  • The aluminum hubs at the front and rear of the tent allow multiple poles to intersect at a single point.  This enables a unique pole architecture to be created that allow free-standing support while minimizing the total pole weight for the tent. The unique shape of the DAC pole clips makes them easy to use and more durable than standard pole clips.
  • On the Fly Configuration: Ditch your inner tent for a light weight tarp structure created by your fly, poles, and footprint. This is ideal for a sunny day at the beach or on those backpacking trips where every ounce counts. Setup is simple with Jake’s Feet corner anchors.
  • Dual Entries/Vestibules: Two doors and two vestibules eliminate jostling for position and gear storage. Both vestibules can be used in multiple configurations depending on weather conditions and your need for privacy. For maximum ventilation on sunny days, tie back the doors or take the flyoff completely. Leave the doors open for a slight breeze on cooler or wetter nights. When rain and snow are coming down hard, close the entire vestibule for full protection.
  • Multiple Ventilation Options: A combination of venting options in Obi™ 2P help promote good air circulation. Zipper flap vents on each vestibule can be deployed using the integrated strut and two-way zippers. Strategic cutouts in the fly combined with high bathtub walls allow low-to-high ventilation. Even when the vestibules are fully closed, catenary cuts allow air movement under the vestibule and into the tent.
  • Intergrated Light Pocket™: Most headlamps have a focused beam and hanging your lamp inside your tent can be frustrating. Obi 2P™ includes a special pocket for your headlamp with a light-diffusing fabric. Place your lamp in the pocket with the light facing towards the inside of the tent, and the Light Pocket™ will help cast an even glow throughout the tent interior.

small & light & beautiful - with issues Review by KouleKafe
    Performance

    Quality
Used this tent on my own for a couple of days now in wet and windy conditions, temperatures just above and below freezing.

    PROS
    - Light, very small pack size, beautiful design in all the details, quick to set up, sturdy in wind, nearly self-standing, nice to look out doors, sitting height just about OK, decent vestibules.
    - The 'jakes foot' design is great, in my view. So is the zip design. Single pole is easy to use.
    - ventilation in summer should be excellent and is OK for winter
    - A beautiful real tent with a tiny weight and pack size.

    CONS
    - short (I am 1.80m and it's just about OK with mat and sleeping bag)
    - narrow, inner walls sloping in (for 2 only if on good terms, and zero baggage inside)
    - condensation: the lower third of the top end is a single-wall and the hood of my sleeping bag was really wet in the morning from there
    - comes with 6 nice pegs, but needs 8 (the guyout at the top end is necessary to keep outer and inner from touching in rain

    Design flaws:
    - gap of inner to outer too large on the side and top (despite connection), wasting inner space
    - 'single wall' at top end, and (to a lesser degree) foot end (if only the outer would come down some 20cm more there ... In wet and cold conditions condensation (from the ground and from you) will run down the inside of an outer tent. With a single wall construction, you get this *inside* the tent, even with good ventilation. (I'm so glad I didn't buy a Black Diamond HiLite!) (Posted on 28/01/13)
