Questions on Western Mountaineering Alpinlite Sleeping Bag

    Sort by Descending
    • From Rob at 22/09/11 5:28 PM
      • I'm 6 foot tall. What size Western Mountaineering bag would I get.
      • The Western Mountaineering bags come in 6' and 6'6" sizing. Your size is on the extreme of the 6' bag, so I do recommend you choose the 6'6" size bag. The Alpinlite and Ultralite bags have the same temperature rating and are different in the girth, with the Alpinlite being wider. The Alpinlite is very good for people with broad builds or people who wish to wear a puffy down jacket inside their bag.

    • From Lance Deegan at 6/02/15 9:30 PM
      • Would this bag be suitable (with respect to warmth) for the following hikes. Note that I think I am what is referred to as a warm sleeper - I generally feel warmer with less insulation.

        1. Tasmania or NZ in spring or autumn
        2. Nepal to 5,000m in March.
      • Hi Lance,
I would think that the Alpinelite would be ok for NZ and Tas, if you are also using a thermarest or equivalent rated to around R4 or higher. You might be pushing it for use at 5000m as it will be significantly colder at altitude, not to mention the decrease in oxygen at that level will also make you colder.
However, if you are using a good mat like I suggested, and also good thermals and maybe an extra layer as needed you would be ok.
Thanks, and if you need more info please email or give us a call on 1300654259
