What is your torso length?

You will need: A soft measuring tape and a friend.

1. Tilt your head forward and feel for the bony bump where the slope of your shoulders meets your neck. This is your 7th cervical (or C7) vertebra—and the top of your torso length.

2. Next, find your Iliac Center. This is the point in the centre of your spine that aligns with the highest boney point on your hipbone.

3. Tilt your head back up and have your friend run the tape straight down your spine from your C7 until you reach your Iliac Center.

This is your torso length. Check it twice to be sure! Use your torso length to determine your pack size looking at the size chart below.

What is your hip belt size?

You will need: A soft measuring tape.

To determine your hip belt size, measure around the hips at the iliac crest (the boney part of your hips), not the waist.

Note that only the hip belts of our bigger packs come in different sizes. Our other packs do come with a one-size-fit-all pelvic form hip belt.

Aarn Hip Belt Size Guide:
Small: Between 64 cm - 80 cm
Medium: Between 81 cm - 90 cm
Large: 91 cm - 100 cm
Extra Large: 101 cm - 120 cm

If you are on the cusp, go to the bigger size.

Carry the day’s essentials up front and bring heavy loads back into balance with the Aarn Balance Pockets Expedition. As Aarn’s largest Balance Pockets, they are made for mid to large-volume Aarn packs, helping spread weight across the front and back of the body for improved posture and a more stable carry on long walks.

With 15L of main storage per pair, included dry liners and four exterior mesh pockets, they keep snacks, water, maps, gloves, camera gear and trail essentials close without needing to stop and dig through the main pack. Compression cords help cinch the pockets down when they are not full, while one pocket can convert into a simple crossbody day bag with the included sling. They are a clever upgrade for multi-day hikes, travel and load-heavy adventures where access, balance and comfort matter.
