Angie Scarth-Johnson, 11, of the Blue Mountains, NSW has joined The North Face Australia and New Zealand athlete team. Angie joins a strong team of local athletes as the first female climber, and certainly the youngest in all disciplines.

“Upon first meeting Angie at a climbing crag in the Blue Mountains it was immediately apparent that this talented young climber would one day be at the forefront of the sport’s progression. What stands out most about Angie, aside from her climbing, is her passion for the outdoors.” – Stephen Winnacott, Marketing Manager Australia, New Zealand

Originally from Canberra, Angie now resides in the Blue Mountains, a world renowned climbing destination and home to a passionate community of Australian climbers, including team climbers Ben and Lee Cossey. At age seven, after a nasty tree climbing accident, Angie’s parents brought her to a local climbing gym in Canberra to climb in a safe environment. She showed a natural ability and since then, Angie has achieved incredible feats in the climbing community for her age.

“I am very excited to be part of representing The North Face brand. Their team has amazing climbing athletes that I really look up to in Australia and around the world. I feel very special to be included in such an awesome group and I hope that I can inspire young climbers to follow their dreams and enjoy the outdoors as much as I do.”

Her parents are equally enthusiastic about the development, “We are very proud of all of Angie’s achievements, her dedication and her enthusiasm towards her sport. Being part of The North Face team means a great deal to her and we feel very honoured to have our little girl included in a line-up of such inspirational athletes.”
