What is the best way to care for my men's outdoor clothing? 

Caring for your adventure wardrobe is important. Most hiking and camping clothes will have a label with instructions on how to wash and care for the garment. If left unwashed, dirt and the oils from your skin will eventually damage vital features of the garment - Such as the waterproof membranes that make your shell jacket so useful. When cleaning Gore-Tex 3-layer Waterproof jackets and other waterproof fabrics, we recommend a specialised cleaner such as asNikwax Tech Wash as this will not damage the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment on the garment. 

What type of material should I look for in my hiking clothes?

In general hiking, clothing will combine temperature regulation and moisture-wicking properties but also be lightweight and durable. The fabrics used are usually either a synthetic or natural fibre, or a blend of both.  If you’re undertaking high-exertion activities like running and climbing mountains, moisture-wicking clothing will be essential to regulate your temperature effectively. Look for synthetics that are optimised to move sweat away from your body and dry quickly. Garments constructed from merino wool, such as the Icebreaker clothing range, are also a good option for longer trips. Not only are they warm and highly breathable, but merino is naturally antimicrobial and odour resistant!
