Men's Outdoor Clothing FAQ’s
Does Paddy Pallin stock a range of hiking clothes for men?
We LOVE hiking at Paddy Pallin. Hiking is what our entire company is founded on, hiking and quality gear. The range of men's hiking clothing at Paddy Pallin is second to none, and all of our staff are avid hikers themselves. Whether you’re looking for insulated jackets and hiking pants or some new hiking shirts - You’ll find plenty of options in our range. We know that suitable hiking clothing is essential for ensuring you remain comfortable and safe whilst trekking throughout the wilderness. Our range features the very best in ultralight, ultra-warm and highly versatile hiking threads to keep you not only hiking further but looking stylish at the same time.
What is the best material for outdoor clothing?
It depends on the use, but nylon, polyester, and Merino wool are all stars. They’re durable, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying. Ideal for Aussie adventures.
What fabric lasts longest outside?
Nylon is one of the most durable fabrics for outdoor use. It resists tears, handles rough terrain, and stands up to repeated use in harsh conditions. That being said all fabric and materials need your help. They will only last as long as they are cared for so always make sure that you’re following the best material care guides whether that’s for Nylon, Cotton or Merino Wool.
Is 100% polyester good for hiking?
Absolutely. Polyester is lightweight, quick-drying, and doesn’t hold moisture, making it a solid choice for base or mid-layers in warm or cool weather. Our range of hiking clothes features an array of materials to help you find the perfect fit for your hiking lifestyle.
Do I really need thermal clothing for hiking?
If you're trekking in cold or variable weather, thermal layers are essential. They keep your body temperature regulated and your sweat wicked away. Thermals are key for your safety and comfort!
What brands of men's outdoor clothing does Paddy Pallin stock?
All of the best ones! Our range features a wide variety of top-quality gear from leading global brands: With a hand-picked range from Marmot, Kuhl, The North Face, Patagonia, Rab, Icebreaker, Royal Robbins, Arc’teryx, Helly Hansen and Mont.
Will a synthetic or down jacket be the warmer option?
Traditionally a jacket filled with down insulation would be warmer than a similar weight synthetic insulated option. However, the latest synthetic technology is amazing and can be a better choice for damp conditions. At Paddy Pallin, we keep both styles in the range and can recommend which would be more suitable based on where you’re headed in the outdoors.
What is the best way to care for my men's outdoor clothing?
Caring for your adventure wardrobe is important. Most hiking and camping clothes will have a label with instructions on how to wash and care for the garment. If left unwashed, dirt and the oils from your skin will eventually damage vital features of the garment - Such as the waterproof membranes that make your shell jacket so useful. When cleaning Gore-Tex 3-layer Waterproof jackets and other waterproof fabrics, we recommend a specialised cleaner such as Nikwax Tech Wash as this will not damage the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment on the garment.
