Role Overview:

As a Retail – Senior Gear Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service, gear consultation and driving sales. You will engage with customers to understand their needs, offer tailored advice, and ensure they have a memorable shopping experience. You will also contribute to maintaining store presentation and adhering to company policies and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Engagement: Provide exceptional customer service, creating memorable shopping experiences. Warmly acknowledge, greet and guide customers towards the best solution for their needs - enhancing customer satisfaction and ensuring the right gear is chosen for comfort, safety, and performance.
• Sales Performance: Achieve store sales targets through effective selling techniques.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and brands to offer quality consultation.
• Destination and Activity Knowledge: Continue to build and maintain a core knowledge base of popular bushwalking, hiking, trekking, trail running and climbing adventures in popular local and overseas destinations to enhance and add value to service.
• Store Presentation: Ensure the store is well presented, clean, and stocked
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to achieve common goals. Mentor and assist junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
•  Store Operations: Support store operations, including opening and closing, security, stock management, online orders and visual merchandising.
• Policy Adherence: Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to transactions, customer service, and safety.
• Sustainability Performance: Proactively engage in waste minimisation, energy reduction, inclusivity and other initiatives, supporting our sustainability values and goals.

 

Qualifications:

• Experience: One year’s previous retail or customer service experience is necessary, preferably in the outdoor retail sector.
• Passion: A genuine passion for outdoor activities and gear.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
