First Hike Project (FHP) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra. FHP provides youth from refugee backgrounds with all-expenses-paid, fully-equipped overnight hiking and camping experiences in the Australian bush. They aim to offer safe, no-cost hiking adventures to newcomers, helping them feel more at home in Australia by exploring nature beyond the suburbs. These experiences can help hikers to build stronger connections to their new home.

All gear, food, drinks, and transportation are provided at no cost to the participants. FHP ensure the food is culturally appropriate and allocates time for cultural and religious practices as needed. The community also organise day hikes, which can include family members who may not fall within their usual youth demographic.
