The Tree Projects is a Tasmanian-based environmental outreach organisation that educates and inspires people about forests and why it’s important to protect them. Founded in 2015, TTP have achieved incredible success around forest protection in Tasmania and beyond, including a campaign to remove the Grove of Giants from the logging schedule, and a training scheme teaching local scientists in Ghana how to climb trees to further their canopy research. TTP is a research-led and backed organisation, having published several leading reports that highlight the importance of forest protection for both climate and wildlife conservation.

BIG TREE STATE

Big Tree State is a campaign that fosters an appreciation of big trees and encourages people to visit them. Big Tree Tourism is a huge industry in certain parts of the world, and The Tree Projects have identified a real opportunity to generate sustainable tourism in Tasmania as an economic alternative to native forest logging. 

A FUTURE VISION REPORT

As native forest logging is being phased out in some mainland states in Australia, there is increasing pressure for Tasmania to follow suit. A Future Vision Report illustrates an alternative way forward for Tasmanian forests and communities for the best biodiversity and climate outcomes.
