The Number One Camping Store in Hobart

Welcome to our nipaluna/Hobart store.

We’re located in the outdoor hub of Hobart, in the presence of our local Mountain, kunanyi/Mt Wellington, which has an abundance of trails and climbing routes on offer. Our team has extensive knowledge of the Tasmanian wilderness and understands the gear required for the unique climate and diverse landscapes of Tasmania. We stock a wide range of products to cater to these conditions and can meet the needs of all; from first-timers to seasoned enthusiasts.

At Paddy Pallin, we’ve been providing the very best camping, hiking, and outdoor equipment in Australia for more than 90 years. We’re the number one Hobart camping store, and we have an extensive range of quality gear for all kinds of adventures. Whether you’re planning a long backpacking trip overseas, a family camping trip out near Cradle Mountain or a Cascade Gardens hike, our Hobart camping and outdoor store has everything you need.

Your Hobart Outdoor Store

We don’t just stock camping gear — we’ve got everything you need for an outdoor adventure. Whether you’re looking for daypacks, climbing equipment, walking footwear or survival gear, we’re here to help. We only stock the best products, gear and equipment that stand up to everything you and the Tasmanian wilderness can throw at it.

Meet The Team

Evan | Store Manager

Evan has been with Paddy Pallin since 2007.  Formerly a bushwalking guide on Tasmania’s great walks, he has also worked as an outdoor adventure guide and outdoor education instructor on mainland Australia, and has hiked and backpacked in more than 30 countries.  Whether you’re gearing up for an expedition, kitting-out for a school Outdoor Ed program, or paring back to carry-on essentials for ultralight travel, Evan’s experience and no-nonsense approach to equipment will help you optimise your next adventure!

Dan Belkowski | Assistant Manager

Originating from the scenic landscapes of Colorado, Dan has a background as a seasoned tour guide across the United States and over 20 years of experience in the retail industry.  Dan brings over a decade of experience immersing in the outdoor wonders of Hobart and its surrounding landscapes.  Whether planning your next adventure in Tasmania or venturing abroad, Dan is your go-to resource for gear, insights, and advice for crafting an unforgettable adventure.

Andy | Sales Assistant

Andy has an obsession with traversing the wild mountain ranges in lutruwita/Tasmania. He also appears to have a compulsion to undertake expeditions in really bad weather, as seen in his popular adventure documentary, “Winter on the Blade”. These days Andy spends more time on the shop floor than in the mountains, where he’s happy to share his accumulated knowledge of Tasmania’s wilderness with his customers. Andy’s areas of expertise include navigation, scrub wriggling, mud stomping, bike touring, adventure climbing and wilderness photography. He will recommend products that are functional, durable and lightweight. Andy tends to describe weight differences between products in terms of his standard unit of measurement: the weight of a block of chocolate.

Lauren | Sales Assistant

Lauren joined the Paddy's team in 2019 with 6 years of bushwalk guiding experience in Tasmania and in the West MacDonnell Ranges, NT. She gets very excited hearing about your upcoming hiking adventures and sharing her knowledge of the places she knows well - the Overland track, Freycinet National Park, and the Larapinta trail. She loves helping new hikers feel more comfortable in the outdoors and choosing the right gear for their upcoming trips.
