Trekking is at the core of what both Paddy Pallin and Osprey are all about. As such, Osprey have a big of trekking and hiking packs, with sizes to suit everything from short overnight hikes to serious multi-week self-supported treks. The range of Osprey hiking packs start at volumes of about 9L, and go right up to 105L. The size you’ll need depends on the type of hiking you usually undertake, and how bulky your outdoor gear is. But don’t forget, when hiking, carrying less weight is always better! 

What types of daypacks do Osprey make? 

Osprey has a wide range of daypacks which we are proud to include in our range. There's a variety of daypack styles to suit many types of activities. Hiking daypacks are generally about 15L - 35L, with a comfortable ventilated harness and wide supportive hip belt. These will also have hiking specific features - such as a spot to attach trekking poles, a whistle built into the sternum strap and a hydration bladder sleeve. Travel or everyday daypacks by contrast are designed with an urban lifestyle in mind - with padded sleeves for laptops and tablets.

Where is the Osprey brand from? 

Osprey was founded in 1974 by Mike Pfotenhauer and amazingly Mike’s been involved with every single Osprey product design to this day! The company has a rich heritage in North America, with humble beginnings in California in the 1970’s then later moving to Dolores, a small town in Colorado. The Company’s headquarters are still in Dolores, however production has since moved to Vietnam. Osprey works closely with the makers and suppliers, ensuring the quality of their products remains top notch. 

How should I store my Osprey bags?

Much the same as with most outdoor gear, Osprey bags like to be out getting used! But for when they’re on standby the best practice is to store them dry, clean, in a well vented area and away from direct sunlight.

Can I wash my Osprey gear if it gets dirty?
