I am heading to kokoda in May. Would this type of trouser be ok? I have read that long pants are preferred because of the mosquitos. Please make suggestions.

Hi, the Patagonia Nano Air Light Pants Women are an insulated pant and would be too warm, for daily wear.
I would suggest hiking pants that do not contain cotton, dry quicky and provide protection.
I would suggest you look at:
Mont Adventure Light Pants Women's
Patagonia Quandary Pants Women's
Craghoppers NosiLife Pro Pants III Women's (these are treated to protect against mosquitos)
